Almost anyone can learn to windsurf, and with recent advances in equipment and teaching techniques, windsurfing is now one of the most accessible sports in the world. With a single lesson, YOU can be out sailing on the water. No previous sailing or boating experience is required.
|
At your first lesson we will:
Teach you the basics of safety
Show you the basics of sailing
Teach you the basic sailing maneuvers, first on dry land, then in controlled conditions on the water

What most people call a windsurfer should really be called a sailboard as it is essentially a large surfboard with a sail on top (Windsurfing was invented over 30 years ago by Newman Darby, a Southeastern Pennsylvania native to bring people who couldn't afford sailboats into the sport of sailing). Sailors ride the board standing up, countering the sail's power with their weight. Sailboards are able to outstrip the fastest yachts in speed. |

Due to remarkable advances in design and materials, windsurfing can be enjoyed by everyone from kids to seniors, from petite gals to bruiser guys. The equipment is fine-tuned to your size, strength and expertise.

Likewise, improved wet and dry suits allow you to enjoy windsurfing from spring when water temperatures are just beginning to warm to late fall/winter days. In other words, in the Delaware Valley - virtually the entire year for the hardy; eight months for those who prefer to whet their appetites for spring by sitting by a fire during the cold months.

Although many board sailors flock to the nearby Jersey shore and Poconos, Pennsylvanian's tax dollars have provided wonderful nearby places to sail: Lake Nockamixon and Peace Valley in Bucks Country. Being light and easily handled, boards are easy to transport. And of course, wherever you vacation near lakes and bays, you will probably be able to enjoy the waters of those locales.

Because your life is hectic (or too uneventful) and because you need the relaxation (and/or challenge) of the windsurfing experience! Truly, it is unlike anything else. There have been sailors since the beginning of recorded time but until the elements of wind and water came together in windsurfing - never has the experience been so personal and immediate (and unlike jets skis, quiet and environmentally friendly).
